How can I check rates and availability?

You can check for available accommodations and rates through this website. Simply begin by clicking on the BOOK NOW tab and entering your travel dates and details to view available accommodations along with the rates available. Select your preferred room type and you will be led to a screen that displays the cost. You may continue and reserve that room, or Save, Print or Email the information for later.

If you wish to speak with someone directly, please call 800.334.3581 any time day or night. A Guest Services Representative will be happy to answer any questions you might have about availability, room rates, discounts and packages.

 

How can I make a reservation at The Winds?

You can make a reservation directly through this website. Simply begin by clicking on the BOOK NOW tab and entering your travel dates and details to view the accommodations available. Alternatively, you may call us directly at 800.334.3581. Guest Service Representatives are here 24 hours a day 7 days a week to assist you.

 

How do I guarantee my reservation?

The Winds accepts only guaranteed reservations. Reservations are held with a deposit equal to one night’s stay collected at the time the reservation is placed.

 

Does The Winds have a minimum age for check-in?

Yes. Guests must be 21 years of age or older.

 

What taxes are associated with booking a room?

Accommodations are subject to both the North Carolina State Sales Tax of 6.75% and the combined county and town Occupancy Tax of 6.00%.

 

What is The Winds’ change or cancellation policy?

When the scheduled arrivals are in Off-Peak periods, reservations may be changed or cancelled without penalty prior to 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival.

When the scheduled arrivals are in Peak and High Occupancy periods, changes, including cancellations, may be made up to 30 days prior to the booked arrival date. There is a $25.00 fee change/cancel fee. If a reservation is cancelled up to 7 days prior to arrival, guests will be charged the entire deposit. To avoid the loss of an entire deposit, guests may be able to change their stay dates, subject to availability, or to transfer the deposit to a Winds Gift Certificate ($25.00 change fee will apply). If a reservation is cancelled fewer than 7 days prior to arrival, guests are required to pay for the entire stay.

 

What are Check-In and Check-Out times?

Check-In is guaranteed to be available by 4:00 p.m. Check-Out is required by 11:00 a.m.

 

May I arrive before the scheduled 4:00 p.m. Check-In time?

We welcome guests to arrive as their schedule allows. While rooms are not guaranteed for check-in until 4:00 p.m., we will do our best to accommodate your needs. If your accommodations are ready, we will be happy to check you in. If they are not, you will be have access to the beach, our pools, changing rooms and other amenities until your accommodations are cleaned and inspected for your stay. Please contact Guest Services at 800.334.3581 to provide us with advance notice of your expected arrival time.

 

Are pets allowed at The Winds Resort?

The Winds does have some Pet-Friendly accommodations. To obtain details about the Pet Policy or to learn what Pet-Friendly accommodations are available for your preferred stay dates, please call The Winds at 800.334.3581. A Guest Services Representative will be happy to answer your questions and assist you with your booking. To assure that owners with their pet companions are correctly accommodated, Pet Friendly bookings may only be made over the phone.

 

What is The Winds smoking policy?

The Winds welcomes both smokers and non-smokers at our resort.

Smoking is permitted on the beach, at the Oasis Party Deck, around our pools, at the Thirsti Tiki Bar and at our multiple grilling stations, as well as at other shared outdoor areas around the resort, including cottage balconies and decks.

Designated non-smoking areas include all Winds guest rooms, all shared interior spaces such as The Garden Room and Fitness Center, and on all oceanfront balconies, decks and patios.

 

Is there an elevator for upper level rooms?

All ocean front 2nd and 3rd floor rooms are accessible from a central elevator. The 4th floor penthouse rooms are reached by stairs from the 3rd floor. The Resort’s cottages do not have elevators.

 

Does The Winds have handicap accessible accommodations?

The Winds has two, first floor, oceanfront suites that are wheelchair accessible and have handicap bathroom facilities. For guests not requiring wheelchair access, but who are unable to climb stairs: all ocean front 2nd and 3rd floor rooms are accessible from a central elevator. Additionally, The Winds has available TTY, visual telephone alert units, visual knock alert, bath chairs and other handicap resources upon request. Service dogs are always welcome.

 

Is the beach access wheelchair accessible?

The Winds Resort is located between two of the island’s public, wheelchair-access points. They are located along East 1st Street at Raeford and at Durham Streets. The Winds’ wooden, dune crossover has steps.

Beach wheelchairs with balloon tires are available free of charge through the Town of Ocean Isle Beach Police Department. They must be picked up and returned daily. Beach wheelchairs are also available to rent through several local vendors. A Guest Services Representative will be happy to assist you with arrangements.

 

Does The Winds offer any discounted rates?

The Winds offers year-round discounted rates to: AAA/CAA members, AARP members, retired military, current federal and North Carolina government employees. Active military service personnel receive a special discount. All membership discounts require the presentation of valid identification at check-in.

What are The Winds’ in-room amenities?

All rooms have a television and DVD player, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Daily linen service is included with your stay.

 

Does The Winds provide pool towels or beach towels and blankets?

The Winds does provide pool towels for our guests to use. If you want to lie out on the beach, we recommend you bring a large beach towel or blanket.

 

Is there beach gear available to borrow or rent?

Our Tiki Store is located between the oceanfront pool and The Garden Room. Open seasonally, it carries pool beach chairs, umbrellas, pool noodles, beach buckets, toys, books, hats, sunscreen and much more.

Large beach umbrella and chair sets may be rented through a rental company. In addition, there are both local stores selling beach supplies and rental companies offering everything from kites to surf boards, and from kayaks to golf carts. What about parking?

The Winds offers free, on-site parking.

 

Are there laundry facilities available?

The Winds has an on-site coin laundry available for all of our guests. In addition, guests who reserve any of our 3, 4, 5 or six-bedroom cottages have access to their own in-house washer and dryer.

 

What meals are included with my stay?

The Winds offers all of our guests a complimentary breakfast each morning. The breakfast buffet includes: eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, waffles, potatoes, pastries, fruit, hot and cold cereals, coffee, tea and juice. During some off-season periods, breakfast may be cooked to order for our guests.

 

Does The Winds have a restaurant or bar?

Our Thirsti Tiki Hut is open seasonally and offers sandwiches, salads, pizzas, wraps and wings. It is also a full-service bar featuring several island-style drinks, beers, wines and liquor. We do not have a full-service restaurant. However, there are several restaurants here on the island and many more nearby.

 

What restaurants are nearby?

Ocean Isle Beach has many local restaurants to choose from, offering a wide array of food choices. Here are just a very few suggestions. Of course, there’s wonderful seafood available, and for that, you might want to visit Victoria’s Crab Shack, the Ocean Isle Fish Company, or Sharky’s. Craving delicious Italian? Try chef owned Roberto’s Italian Ristorante. Hot Dogs, BBQ or Brisket calling out to you? That may be Charlie Grainger’s you’re hearing. Or if it’s the island of Jamaica calling, the Sugar Shack is a must visit. For pub fare, how about Pelican’s Perch or Fibber McGee’s Irish Pub? Want a coffee jolt? Try Drift. Heating up for some ice cream? Chill out at Ocean Isle Creamery. Not sure what your taste buds are asking for? Then Causeway Gourmet may have the answer. Is there internet access?

The Winds offers free Wi-Fi to all of our guests. The Wi-Fi signal is available throughout the resort. A password is provided during check-in.

 

What are some exercise options?

All guests have access to our indoor Fitness Center (Hours: 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.). The Winds also offers our guests complimentary usage of bicycles to ride on the island. In addition, The Winds hosts several fitness programs, including: Aqua Zumba, Water Aerobics and Tennis. These programs are offered free or for a small fee through the Resort. What activities are available at The Winds?

On-site we have 3 swimming pools (2 outdoor and 1 heated indoor pool), two whirlpool spas and a Fitness Center. We offer beach and pool volleyball, shuffleboard, ping pong, croquet and cornhole. The Winds also has bicycles (and helmets) available for our guests to use on the Island. Scheduled fitness classes are open to Winds guests (most at no-charge). In the Summer, check out Tropical Thursdays at our Thirsti Tiki Bar featuring a DJ, games, prizes and activities for all ages. Off-Season, our guests are invited to join our Thirsti Tiki crew on Thursdays for a Wine & Cheese Party.

 

What activities or attractions are nearby?

In addition to all the activities available at The Winds, here in Ocean Isle Beach, we have kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, surfing, fishing, miniature golf, bike & hiking trails, a soccer field, playgrounds and tennis courts. The Museum of Coastal Carolina is here on the island and the Ingram Planetarium is just a few minutes drive away on Sunset Beach. And, don’t forget, we’re less than an hour’s drive from all the excitement & entertainment in Myrtle Beach and Wilmington.

 

I’d like to golf. What are my options?

The Winds is located in “The Seaside Golf Capital of America.” (Golf Digest) Nearly 20 championship golf courses are located within 8 miles of The Winds and dozens more within a short drive. The Winds is happy to help make your stay with us extra special. We offer romantic packages that include champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and scattered rose petals. How can I get to The Winds?

The Winds Resort Beach Club is located on beautiful Ocean Isle Beach along the southern coast of North Carolina between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. Both cities have airports which are served by several major airlines and are approximately one hour away from Ocean Isle Beach by car. Rental car agencies are located at both airports. The Ocean Isle Beach airport is open to small aircraft.

By car from the North: Take US-17 South to Shallotte, NC. Turn left onto Ocean Isle Beach Road and travel 4 miles, over the bridge and onto Ocean Isle Beach. At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto East 1st Street. Continue one and a half miles to The Winds at 310 East 1st Street.

By car from the South: Take US-17 North through Little River, SC. Take SC Hwy 179 into Sunset Beach and continue on SC 179/Beach Drive to Ocean Isle Beach. Turn right on The Causeway and cross the bridge to the traffic circle. At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto East 1st Street. Continue one and a half miles to The Winds at 310 East 1st Street.
