The Winds has three, tastefully decorated and well appointed meeting rooms. Two of these are located side by side with wide double doors opening out into a hallway between them. This arrangement is perfect for a large reception using both rooms, or for a meeting in one room and breakout meetings, meals or refreshments in the other The Garden Room is well suited for meetings, meals or receptions. This beautiful room opens onto a deck surrounded by a lush subtropical garden.

In addition to our meeting/function rooms we have an oceanfront deck near the pool. It is ideal for receptions in a spectacular setting surrounded by tall palms, banana trees and other exotic plants. This party deck overlooks a wide sandy beach and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. All of our Resort Houses have a great-room ideal for receptions and meetings in a less formal atmosphere.

The Food and Beverage Department can assist with everything from refreshments to meals, local caterers and accommodations for on site oceanfront lodging after the event.

Tropical Storm “Hanna” passed through around 3:30am Saturday morning on September 6th. We experienced some high winds and rains but all is calm afterwards. There was no mandatory evacuation and no measurable damage other than some beach erosion.

The Calm After the Storm: As of daylight Saturday morning the rain has stopped and the skies are partly cloudy. It feels great outside with minimal humidity. We are very thankful for the outcome of the situation.

Hurricane “Ike” is now expected to take a westerly course into the Gulf of Mexico. There is no reason not to come enjoy Ocean Isle Beach and The Winds!

The 28th North Carolina Oyster Festival - October 18-19 2008

Awarded North Carolina Event of the Year 2007 by the North Carolina Association of Festivals and Events, the 28th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival will feature:  Live entertainment, a road race, a surf contest, kids area, over 120 arts & crafts vendors and 13 food vendors, North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championships and an Oyster Stew Cook-off.

If you’re not a fan of the oyster don’t let that stop you. There are all kinds of food vendors with everything from Greek gyros to cheesesteaks to homemade ice cream (not to mention funnel cakes, cotton candy and burgers and hot dogs).

The Winds tends to book up way ahead for this nationally recognized festival so make plans and reservations as soon as possible!

Water Aerobics Classes

Classes are held in the indoor pool throughout the Summer (June - August) and are free to all Winds’ guests! The Summer schedule is as follows:

Concerts on the Coast at Ocean Isle Beach

In the parking lot of the Museum of Coastal Carolina every Friday through Aug. 29. Concerts begin at 6:30 p.m.

Concert-goers are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Sunset Slush will be on hand, serving Italian ice. Hughes said the company is one of the event’s sponsors, and they donate a percentage of their sales back to the concert fund every Saturday night. No other food will be served, but attendees may bring their own picnic baskets or food from home.
While the concerts and parking are free, nonperishable food items and monetary donations will be collected at every concert to help benefit local food pantries in Brunswick County.

Airports, Rental Cars and Travel Information

The Winds Resort Beach Club is located on Ocean Isle Beach along the southern coast of North Carolina between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. Both have jetports and are approximately 45 minutes away. Most major airlines offer flights to both cities.

Flying and Flights:
USAir, Delta, AirTran, ComAir, ASA, Continental & Spirit Airlines offer service to Myrtle Beach, SC. Delta and USAir offer service to Wilmington, NC. We are about 45 minutes from either jetport.

Driving Directions:
From the North: On Hwy. 17, exit in Shallotte and follow Hwy. 179 to the entrance of Ocean Isle Beach.
From the South: Hwy. 179 leaves Hwy. 17 at the first traffic light north of Little River, SC. Exit Hwy. 179 at Ocean Isle Beach and cross the bridge and drive to the oceanfront. Turn left and drive one and a half miles to The Winds Resort Beach Club.

Car Rentals:
Most major car rental companies offer rentals at both the Myrtle Beach and Wilmington airports.
